To help relax, rebalance and restore your body, we offer the following massage therapies:
When you arrive at Merakai Massage, and before we begin any massage, we discuss and assess your needs. We discuss and review your condition, posture and range of movement and assess which option, or combination of massage options, is best for you. This first step is very important so we can provide a treatment, or treatment plan, that is right for you.
Over time, repetitive movements, prolonged periods in the same position and injuries can cause misalignment in our body and muscle imbalances.
Remedial massage helps to relieve and assists to correct those misalignments in the body and/or muscle imbalances that can also cause pain or reduce your range of movement.
Depending on your condition, it may take more than one session to help repair and realign the area of your body causing pain and/or discomfort.
Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles. It is used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
While some of the massage strokes are similar to a relaxation and remedial massage, the technique applied is generally slower and pressure is deeper and concentrated on the areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and connective tissue.
We use techniques designed to break up adhesions in muscles that have chronic muscle tension or injury. These adhesions can disrupt the circulation and cause pain, limited movement and inflammation.
When applying a deep tissue treatment, we are aware there may be some discomfort to you. To manage this, we work with you to ensure a comfortable amount of pressure is applied to achieve the relief you need. This is important, as we can only work on your deeper muscles when your muscles are relaxed – there is no point causing your muscles to contract in response to too much pressure
A relaxation massage is all about relaxing you.
Sometimes our body simply needs time to relax and recharge. We use long smooth gliding strokes with pressure that is deeply relaxing but not painful.
This treatment is designed to help soothe and relax you, not to relieve chronic pain or underlying ailments.
Relaxation massage can provide many benefits, such as: stress relief, reduced anxiety and tension, reduced muscle tension, improved circulation and many more.
We can also combine some or all of these treatments into one session.
Quite often muscular imbalance and misalignment is caused by stress, anxiety, tension and general life busyness.
By applying gentle relaxation techniques to your tense muscle allows us the opportunity to work a little deeper and incorporate remedial and deep tissue techniques that can help provide relief to your condition.
