Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles. It is used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
While some of the massage strokes are similar to a relaxation and remedial massage, the technique applied is generally slower and pressure is deeper and concentrated on the areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and connective tissue.
We use techniques designed to break up adhesions in muscles that have chronic muscle tension or injury. These adhesions can disrupt the circulation and cause pain, limited movement and inflammation.
When applying a deep tissue treatment, we are aware there may be some discomfort to you. To manage this, we work with you to ensure a comfortable amount of pressure is applied to achieve the relief you need. This is important, as we can only work on your deeper muscles when your muscles are relaxed – there is no point causing your muscles to contract in response to too much pressure
